Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

This is a true Valentine’s Day classic that looks great, tastes great but which is really easy to make. This version is made even more spectacular by drizzling over melted white chocolate.

Prep time 20 minutes/cook time 5 minutes/serves 5

Ingredients:

100g (3 ½ oz) dark chocolate, coarsely chopped

400g (14 oz) strawberries

30g (1 oz) white and milk chocolate, coarsely chopped (optional)

Method:

Cut a strip of baking parchment and leave to one side.

To melt the dark chocolate, fill a small pan with 2cm water and bring to a simmer. Put the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and rest it on top of the pan, ensuring the bowl isn’t touching the water. Stir the chocolate to gradually melt it. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a heat-proof bowl using 20 second blasts in the microwave, stirring after each blast until melted. Transfer the melted chocolate in a small deep bowl.

Gently hold the strawberries by the leafy top and dip into the chocolate. Tap off any excess chocolate and put on the pre-cut parchment paper to set. If you have any leftover chocolate, pour it onto another strip of parchment and leave it to set, it can be used again.

If you’d like to decorate the strawberries, melt together the white and milk chocolate and drizzle gently over the fruit by dribbling off a small spoon.
