The Nigeria Police Force has commended the efforts of Ahmad Isah, the founder of ‘Brekete Family’, a Human Right Radio for his pursuit of the alleged injustice perpetrated against one Solomon Bawa on his show.
The Police noted that Isah’s commitment to highlighting such issues was commendable.
The Nigeria Police made this known on its Facebook page on Sunday, November 19.
The post read, “The Nigeria Police Force acknowledges the efforts of Ordinary Ahmad Isah of Brekete Family Radio for aiding in bringing to light the alleged injustice perpetrated against one Bawa on his show at Human Rights Radio.
“Be rest assured that the matter is receiving due attention from the IGP and top hierarchy of the force, and justice will be seen to have been done. Once again, thank you, Berekete Family”.
Bawa, a farmer and a pick-up truck driver, was a resident of Ankara in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
While on the show, Bawa narrated his experience saying, “I was transporting maize, charcoal, and other materials to a market for sale in 2019 when one of my tyres got deflated, which prompted me to visit a repairer’s shop in Masaka, another community in the council area of the state, to fix the tyre.
“While strolling into a shop owned by one Igbo man to buy items, some armed police operatives approached me and requested to know my name.
“After I introduced myself and I was asked to go, the officers immediately called me back and asked if I knew anyone by the name of Bawa Gombe, I responded with no but they still got me arrested and tortured me till they broke one of my hands”.
